Project Details
SRS were the main mechanical and electrical contractor on this multi-million-pound Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICU at Hull Royal Infirmary opened in 2021 for critically ill and injured patients from all over Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
A Note from SRS
The ICU project has been a large-scale installation for SRS and the team have worked tirelessly to deliver an M&E project of this size. As a company local to Hull, SRS are proud to have employed local talent to support and deliver a local project. SRS are delighted to know they have worked as part of a team to deliver a project to their local community which will save lives.
What We Did
Our Mechanical Team
• Installed 2 new air handling unit plant rooms and one roof plant room to house the chiller plant.
• Provided 2 new chillers that deliver chilled water to the building and an air source heat pump to provide the ICU ward with energy efficient services.
• Services in the building LTHW, domestic water supplies and above ground drainage
• Air conditioning to IPS and UPS rooms and hub rooms.
• Installed medical gases to 24 bed bays with all associated plant.
• Supplied and installed 2 new air handling units and all ventilation to the rooms
Our Electrical Team
• Installed power and LED lighting, new mains panel and supplies to the building.
• Installed feature lighting into the patient bed bays – the back lit panels show cloud images to improve patient wellbeing.
• Data services to supply data network for computers and technology required within the unit. Alongside additional data for the ICU patient monitoring.
• Integrated Power System (IPS) and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems to provide an electrical back up system in case of an electrical failure.
• 2 new electrical plant rooms which provide the building with services.
• Full fire alarm system.
• Provided services to the medical pendants and patient hoists to assist nurses in moving patients across 24 bed bays.
• A bespoke nurse call system for patient monitoring
